What is a DOT Physical?
A DOT physical is a health examination required by the FMCSA for commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers. A DOT physical seeks to determine if a driver is physically, mentally, and emotionally fit to safely operate a CMV.
Every commercial driver is considered a “safety-sensitive” employee. For your safety and the public’s safety, FMCSA makes it mandatory for you to complete and pass a DOT physical. This is needed in order for you to maintain a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
